Part 1: Filmprogram bubbles on the surface of silence
Silence as the base sound for everything that builds from there, as silence is the stage for the travelling sound and the body in expectation or rest. A dark screen with absent bodies invites us to take time and listen /gaze into the silence — a rhythm that contradicts notions of productivity and efficiency. It breaks up temporal linearity to extend it to the body in rest or denial. By shifting visual attention from time to other sensations, we enter liminal states of exhaustion or sleep, darkness and illness, where the limits of what translates through (non-verbal) language are transgressed.

“Sound like silence is both opening and filling / concave and convex / life and death.”

Part 2: Showing of 'stone or waterfall', the latest film by Chloé Op de Beeck.
A woman and a man are walking through the city. Together they look at the environment and dwell on scenes they encounter along the way. stone or waterfall is a film about looking, language and representation, told through the choreography of two bodies in an urban environment.
Following the screening, there is a conversation with the artist and Alicja Melzacka, curator and author of the text that accompanied the film’s premiere. Chloé and Alicja will discuss the relationship between film and writing and the role of language in their practices.
