A new fountain at the Dyle

For a new fountain on the Dyle river in Mechelen, Kunsthal Mechelen asked curator Brenda Guesnet to invite some artists to draft a proposal. The commission is part of the Masterplan Binnendyle. The proposal by Aline Bouvy was ultimately chosen. Aline Bouvy’s multidisciplinary practice questions and challenges how the images we have of ourselves and of humanity are determined by a system conforming us to its norms and values. Bouvy is drawn to the non-conventional seeking to normalise what is considered out-of-bounds thereby adjusting the prevailing morality. Curious to see how the work takes shape?
