Peter Downsbrough - new PLAKT-poster on the facade of De Garage

American artist Peter Downsbrough (1940-2024) has been building an impressive and diverse practice since the β€˜60s: sculpture, literature, film, photography and interventions in public space.

Within PLAKT he made RE/SET (2024): a rotated triangle with the words RE and SET. You could describe it as playing with lines, letters and the space inbetween. Downsbrough would almost never provide an explanation to his work. To him, art should rather suggest than explain. Even then, this work gains special meaning as it’s one of his last creations and could be interpreted as a silent call to never stop and always start again. A RESET.

With PLAKT, Kunsthal Mechelen and Artlead bring contemporary art into the public space. By inviting artists to create posters for the facades of art organizations, the city itself becomes a place for encounter, reflection, and imagination.
