Tine Guns - New PLAKT Poster on the Facade of De Garage
A new, intriguing image is appearing on the facade of De Garage in Mechelen as part of the PLAKT poster project, a collaboration with Artlead. This time, artist Tine Guns has chosen a powerful still from her film To Each His Own Mask.

The image shows the face of a child wearing a balaclava. He looks at us with an expression that is both vulnerable and determined. In the public space, this image takes on a special significance: what at first seems intimate grows into a subtle yet powerful symbol of protest.
Tine Guns works with photography, film, and photo books, exploring how we see, remember, and experience time. Her images feel like fragments from a film: layered, suggestive, and open to interpretation. In To Each His Own Mask, she explores the meaning of masks—as protection, as disguise, but also as a means of questioning identity.
With PLAKT, Kunsthal Mechelen and Artlead bring contemporary art into the public space. By inviting artists to create posters for the facades of art organizations, the city itself becomes a place for encounter, reflection, and imagination.
